It does not get much better than three goals, three points, and a clean sheet on the road for Nathan Hallett-Young.

That is exactly what happened on Sunday afternoon for Bristol Rovers Women. The Gas Girls were looking to get back to winning ways after a goalless draw against Bridgwater United last weekend, and got off to a fast start when Layah Douglas netted her first goal of the season.

Chloe Snook then showed great composure to give the visitors a two-goal advantage at half-time before Thierry-Jo Gauvain added a third after the break to complete the scoring for the Pirates.

Speaking to BRTV after the contest, Nathan Hallett-Young was delighted with Rovers' away performances and wants them to keep putting pressure on the teams above...

Nathan, a comfortable 3-0 win today despite some pretty difficult conditions. How are you feeling after that?

“It was soggy, but ultimately, I think the instant thing that we were looking for was three points. It’s a long travel down here, and the weather is not the nicest, and there were different factors and disruptions in play, but it’s important that we continue on our run.

“It was important that we continued to get three points, and we’re obviously trying to chase the pack now. It’s important that we keep them honest and make sure that they have to get their points and we’re there if they slip. So, it’s a good evening and a good day for us across the board. You can’t complain with three goals and a clean sheet.”

Another goal for Chloe Snook. How have you felt about her performances so far?

“I think she is a breath of fresh air. From the City game, she’s really started to grow. She's bagging consistently now. I know she didn’t score last week, but she was creating, and that’s the important thing for us. We want to make sure that she’s involved, and we’ve adapted a couple of things in the way we move forward, and it’s clear to see.

"That’s why she’s bagged, and she is a poacher inside the box. So, that’s where we want her, and she’s doing the job that we need her to do. It’s a great start for her career at Rovers, and hopefully, she can continue where she’s going.”

You have kept 12 clean sheets now. How does George Hunt feel about that and the rest of the defence?

“I’m really pleased for her. It’s important that we’re getting clean sheets and we’re running up scorelines and we’re doing what we need to do. Defensively, we want to make sure that we stay solid. We were solid last year defensively, and we just needed to add a couple of clean sheets in there where we could.

"When we get in positions to win games and win games comfortably, we have to make sure that we do that. So, we’ve done that in the last couple of weeks, and long may that continue, but from George’s perspective, there is a reason that we say she is so good. We want her to continue the vein of form that she’s in, and having 12 clean sheets so far is unbelievable. We’ve still got ten or 11 games to go.

"So, she’s flying at the moment, the squad is flying, the group is flying and let's keep that going, keep the momentum and keep putting the pressure on the guys at the top."
