The Pirates got off to the perfect start at The Memorial Stadium, with two defenders combining to break the deadlock. Kofi Balmer launched an impressive long throw-in into the heart of the box, with Riley Harbottle climbing above his marker to direct a header beyond the reach of Ollie Wright.
The visitors grew into the contest, but failed to trouble Brad Young in Rovers' net, with the Gas doubling their lead after the break. Jack Sparkes, who has gone close on several occasions with free-kicks this season, curled a perfectly placed effort into the bottom left corner to give his team total control.
Shaq Forde, Mees Rijks and Joel Senior all went close to adding a third for the Pirates, but could not find the back of the net to make it three for the hosts, with Steve Evans' men holding onto their two-goal advantage to secure a sixth win in seven home outings.
