The match was dedicated to The John Green Campaign, which raised awareness for prostate cancer. The players show their support for the initiative by wearing John Green Campaign t-shirts for their warm-ups before the game, with John pitchside before the match as part of a pre-match minute’s noise.

Rovers started quickly, with Riley Harbottle scoring inside five minutes after directing a header beyond Ollie Wright. The Pirates then doubled their advantage after half-time, with Jack Sparkes whipping a low free-kick into the bottom left corner.

The Pirates had chances to add a third, with Mees Rijks and Joel Senior missing chances. Rovers controlled the game in a professional performance, keeping a clean sheet to help them on their way to a seventh victory in seven games at The Memorial Stadium.
