Bristol Rovers midfielder Tommy Leigh has been voted the Christophe Duchamp Player of the Month for March!
The 25-year-old, who signed for the Gas on loan from Sky Bet League One outfit Bradford City, has been voted by the supporters as the men's first team's star player for his performance last month.
Leigh received 43 per cent of the vote, beating Richie Smallwood (37 per cent), Joel Senior (13 per cent) and Jack Sparkes (seven per cent).
He had an exceptional start to March. With the Gas behind against Crewe Alexandra at The Memorial Stadium, Leigh came off the bench and netted a late brace, including the winner in stoppage time, to help Rovers to a vital three points.
Just three days later, Leigh scored the Gas' opening goal with a fine finish in a 2-0 triumph away to Barrow before another match-winning contribution at The Mem. With the game goalless against Shrewsbury heading into the closing stages, Leigh drove a low strike into the bottom corner to lift the Gasheads off their seats.
Leigh was presented with a Christophe Duchamp watch at The Quarters Training Facility in recognition of his success. He was delighted after a successful month and wanted to thank the fans for their fantastic support.
"It's unbelievable," he told BRTV. "I feel like I've had a good month, and the team has had a very good month. Hopefully, we can keep it going. The two goals against Crewe were very good. It was brilliant, and the celebrations were fantastic. The fans were brilliant, so I can't wait to hopefully do it again.
"The fans have been brilliant since I've been here. They turn up in their numbers every game. Away games, hope games, it's been fantastic. I want to thank the fans.
"Five wins in a row is very good. Hopefully, we can make it six and just continue with what we're doing."
