After six dedicated years with Bristol Rovers Women, defender Poppy Warren — the last remaining player from the club’s major redevelopment — has decided to move on to new challenges.
During her time at the club, Poppy made over 90 appearances and played a key role in several promotions and cup triumphs. Her departure not only marks the end of an era but also highlights the legacy of a player who helped lay the foundation for the club’s success in recent years.
What did it mean to play your final game in front of the highest attendance so far at the Mem?
"I’m grateful for the girls and the staff to still be here after six years," she said. "It’s also a testament to how hard everyone has worked across the season, that we have that much support, and it’s great to see such a good turnout in the stands for us."
You were there right from the very start in 2019, and you have been a key player in our achievements since. What are your reflections on your journey?
"It’s difficult to put into words, to be honest," said Warren. "The last six years have been wild. I couldn't have asked for a better club.

"They’ve helped me develop as a player and as a person, and I hope to have helped the club with where they are today.
"I’ve met a lot of people in my time, and the staff have been unbelievable. The work they put in behind the scenes doesn’t go unnoticed, and we wouldn't be here without them.
"This season has been one of the hardest but also one of the best seasons i’ve had, and that's down to the players driving standards. We’ve achieved so much this year, and we’ll continue to build each year.
"I'm really proud of what I’ve achieved and what we’ve achieved as a club."
Where do you see Women’s football growing, bearing in mind your tenure with the club?
"I think even in the last five years, the growth has been astronomical compared to my journey growing up as a child," she said. "There weren't any women’s teams to go and play for or properly support in the area, compared to the opportunities children have now.
"Especially from the success the Lionesses have had, you can really see that filtering down the generations. The only way is up - there's going to be bigger and better things coming for women’s football."
What message would you send to the fans, the club and the players?
"Keep growing, keep fighting for what we deserve, and keep inspiring the next generation of young girls," said Warren. "We’ve already smashed so many targets over six years, and the sky’s the limit.
"There’s a lot more to come, and I'm really excited to see where the club goes."
