Women's Opponents for 26/27 Confirmed

Women's teams 26/27

Bristol Rovers Women will line up in a refreshed Division One South West for the 2026/27 campaign, with three new clubs entering the mix and two making way.

The most notable arrival is Gwalia United, who drop into the division following relegation from the Southern Premier Division. Joining them are two promotion‑winners: Torquay United and Wycombe Wanderers, both stepping up after successful title‑winning campaigns.

Torquay United secured top spot in the South West Regional Women’s Football League Premier Division, edging out title rivals Forest Green Rovers by a single point. Their unbeaten campaign saw them play 18 matches, winning 14 and drawing the other four, finishing with an impressive goal difference of 61.

Wycombe Wanderers earned their place in Division One South West after a strong campaign in the Southern Region Women’s Football League Premier Division, finishing top of the table with 45 points. Across their 20 matches, they recorded 14 wins, three draws and just three defeats, ending the season with a goal difference of 58. Their consistency kept them narrowly ahead of Winchester City Flyers and AFC Portchester, both of whom pushed hard but ultimately fell short in the title race.

Gwalia United were relegated from the Southern Premier Division after finishing 11th, level on 22 points with AFC Wimbledon but behind them on goal difference. The bottom of the table was extremely tight, with five teams separated by just eight points going into the final round of fixtures. Gwalia’s 2-1 defeat away at Exeter City left them unable to climb out of the drop zone, while Wimbledon’s 2-2 draw with Hashtag United was enough to keep them marginally ahead. The combination of results confirmed Gwalia’s relegation on the final day.

  • Bridgwater United
  • Bristol Rovers
  • Maidenhead United
  • Abingdon United
  • Ascot United
  • Marine Academy Plymouth
