Bristol Rovers v Swindon Town
Sky Bet League Two, The Memorial Stadium, Saturday 13th December 2025, 12:30pm KO

Bristol Rovers will face Swindon Town in a West Country derby at The Memorial Stadium on Saturday afternoon in Sky Bet League Two.

Rovers will be searching for their first win in the fourth tier since beating Salford City in September, with the game against the Robins being their last at The Mem until their Boxing Day clash against Bromley.

Swindon lost narrowly to Cheltenham Town on Tuesday. However, they made it through to the next round of the Emirates FA Cup last Saturday with a 4-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers, with Aaron Drinan scoring a hat-trick and Joe Snowdon also netting.

Opposition…

Swindon returned to Sky Bet League Two in the 2021/22 season after being relegated from Sky Bet League One. After a promising first term back in the fourth tier, finishing in the play-offs before losing to Port Vale in the semi-finals over two legs, they have not yet gotten as close to returning to the third tier.

They finished 10th, 19th and 12th in the next three seasons, but the 2025/26 campaign could prove to be different. Currently managed by former midfielder and later manager of Rovers, Ian Holloway, the Robins have had a successful campaign so far, recently beating Sky Bet League One side Bolton Wanderers in an Emirates FA Cup clash, with Aaron Drinan earning a penalty in the first ten minutes, and netting a hat-trick in the second half, ending with a 4-0 victory, with Joe Snowdon securing the victory with a shot from the right side of the box.

The Robins are in third position in Sky Bet League Two and would have moved to the top of the table with a victory over Cheltenham on Tuesday night, but lost 1-0 after a stunning half-volley from Ethon Archer.

Swindon have had a tumultuous journey as a club, spending the 1993/94 season in the Premier League after winning the Division One play-offs a season prior. They spent a season in the top tier before being relegated. They remain the only West Country club to have played in the Premier League.
