Bournemouth Sports Preview

Bristol Rovers v Bournemouth Sports
FA Women's National League, Yate Town FC, Sunday 17th August, 2:00pm.

Bristol Rovers Women return home this weekend to face Bournemouth Sports at their new alternative venue, The Southwest Interiors Stadium.

After opening the season with a clean sheet, the Gas Girls were held to a goalless draw against Bridgwater United in their first away fixture. It was another strong defensive performance, though chances in front of goal just didn’t fall their way. But, for captain Rianne Bourne-Hallett, the message is one of patience, “it’s just a matter of time - it’s coming” she said.

With two clean sheets but just one goal this season, reflecting on the balance between staying solid at the back and pushing forward for goals, Bourne-Hallett added: “It’s about having patience … We know we have got the defensive strength … and going forward we have added strength to our front line,”. Looking ahead to Sunday, she is optimistic that this game will be “the time for it to show.”

Travel...

The journey to Yate Town from Bristol is a short one at just over 11 miles, making it an easy trip for supporters on matchdays.

If travelling by car, take the A432 out of Bristol towards Yate, with the journey taking around 20–30 minutes depending on traffic. Parking is available at the ground on Lodge Road.

If taking the train, services run regularly from Bristol Temple Meads to Yate station, with a journey time of around 20 minutes. From there, it is roughly a 15–20 minute walk to the stadium.

Alternatively, supporters can take the bus from Bristol city centre, with the Y1, Y2 and Y6 services all stopping close to the ground at Celestine Road, just a short walk from the stadium.

Opposition...

The opponents, Bournemouth Sports, currently sit eighth in the table. They opened the season with a 4 - 1 defeat but responded well last weekend, with a 2 - 1 away win over Worthing thanks to two goals from Liane Folkenstern.

Previous Meetings...

Last season, Rovers came out on top in both league meetings between the sides, including a 2 - 0 victory in their most recent fixture. Despite that success, in a pre-match interview, manager Nathan Hallett-Young was keen to stress that there are no easy games in this division. He emphasised the importance of hard work, noting that talent alone will not be enough.
