Keenan Gough was pleased his Bristol Rovers side bounced back from their Sky Bet League Two opening day disappointment to storm to a 5-3 win over Newport County in the Severnside derby.
The Pirates fell behind in the opening seconds of the contest when Harrison Biggins found the corner with a clinical strike before efforts from Ben Purrington, Fabrizio Cavegn and an own goal from Lee Jenkins gave the Gas a 3-1 lead.
Two Exiles goals either side of a perfect finish from former Newport man Bobby Kamwa meant Steve Evans' men led 4-3 heading into the final moments before Cavegn netted again with the last kick of the game to secure Rovers' first victory of the season.
Speaking to BRTV, Gough, who has started the last two matches, was pleased his side could get back to winning ways but knows they made it hard for themselves.
