The Pirates were looking for their seventh win in eight outings at The Mem and were backed by over 10,000 Gasheads. Brad Young was the Pirates' hero in the first half, getting down to his right to push away Ethan Ennis' penalty after Kofi Balmer felled forward Will Davies just inside the box.
The Gas made the most of the Cod Army, missing their opportunity to break the deadlock, with one of Steve Evans' substitutes proving to be the difference. Jack Sparkes' corner was met by Joe Quigley, who got ahead of his marker and knocked his header across the goal and into the back of the net.
Fleetwood looked for a leveller, but Young made another top save, this time making himself big to deny Jordan Davies at close range to keep his second straight clean sheet, helping the Gas to a fourth straight victory in Sky Bet League Two.
