Bristol Rovers is delighted to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Charlie Binns.

The shot-stopper is the Gas' ninth addition of the summer transfer window, penning a one-year deal at the Club. Having signed for Rovers, the 21-year-old will continue his development on loan at Malvern Town for the 2026/27 season.

Binns came through Ipswich Town's academy and was most recently at then National League South team Bath City.

"It feels great to be here," said Binns. "I dropped out of full-time football last year, and I was desperate to get back in. When Bristol Rovers were interested, I knew it was something I would love to do, and I have been lucky enough to be given the opportunity.

"The lads are really nice and have really welcomed me. For League Two, I think the training ground is the best I have seen, and the pitches are unbelievable.

"I want to do my best, try and impress in training and show the gaffer, James Bittner and the coaching staff what I can do. I will go out on loan and play some games because I think that's important and the club agrees."

Steve Evans said: "Charlie is a strong and commanding young goalkeeper who has already shown his ability during a trial period, and we're looking forward to helping him continue his development around the Club and with a good loan spell now at Malvern Town."

Born in Winsham, Binns joined Ipswich's academy in May 2023, signing a two-year deal. He featured for their youth teams and had loan spells at Felixstowe & Walton United during the 2023/24 campaign.

Binns then went on loan to Bishop's Stortford the following season before an injury cut short his move. The goalkeeper departed the Tractor Boys at the end of the 2024/25 season, moving to Bath City on a non-contract in October 2025 before signing permanently two months later. Binns featured 23 times for the Romans in all competitions last season and now joins the Pirates after a successful trial period.

Everyone at Bristol Rovers would like to welcome Charlie to the Club and wish him every success for his loan with Malvern Town.
