Bristol Rovers is pleased to confirm the loan signing of Tommy Leigh from Sky Bet League One team Bradford City, subject to EFL approval.
The 25-year-old is the Gas' eighth signing of the January transfer window and will wear the No24 shirt for the Club.
The midfielder also has Football League experience with Accrington Stanley and Milton Keynes Dons and has an impressive 30 goals and 16 assists in 176 appearances, while also achieving a promotion to Sky Bet League One with the Bantams last term.
"I'm over the moon to be at Bristol Rovers," he said. "Obviously, it was very short notice, but as soon as this Club came in for me, I knew this was the one I wanted to go to. As soon as Steve Evans is on the phone, you've got to go.
"I know what Evans can do, and I know what he can probably bring out of me in a player, and he's a top, top manager. I really can't wait to get started with him. You want to be wanted at a Club and that's how I felt when I answered the phone.
"Bristol Rovers is a massive Club. I've played at the stadium a couple of times, and the fans are fantastic. They always make noise. Every time I have been there, they have been loud."
Head Coach Steve Evans said: “Tommy is a young man whom I have tried to sign on a number of occasions. He's been at MK Dons and latterly Bradford. People only have to look at the start of the season when he played in the first 11 or 12 games for Bradford, and I think they won seven or eight of those, in which he was outstanding for that period.
"He can play anywhere in a midfield three, and he can even play as a striker if we ask him to. He can play as a six, an eight or a ten; he's accomplished in all positions. We have a specific role for him in our heads, but we'll keep that to Tommy and ourselves.
"I was absolutely delighted to receive a call from the people who look after Tommy to say that he had been made available, and like the London buses, we got in the queue, but we won the battle for his signature, and we're delighted to have him."
Born in Portsmouth in April 2000, Leigh came through Pompey's academy before being released at 16.
The midfielder got his first experience of senior football in non-league with Horndean, Baffins Milton Rovers and Bognor Regis Town before making a move to the Football League in July 2021, signing for then Sky Bet League One outfit Accrington Stanley for an undisclosed fee. He made his debut for Stanley in August of the same year, coming off the bench against Cambridge United and went on to make 28 appearances across all competitions, scoring eight goals.
Leigh played 120 times for Acccy across all competitions in three seasons at the club, earning their Player of the Season award for the 2022/23 campaign. He showed his attacking ability from midfield with 28 goals and ten assists and moved to Milton Keynes Dons in June 2024.
The 25-year-old scored once in 17 appearances before making a permanent transfer to Bradford City in 2025, helping the Bantams claim promotion to Sky Bet League One. Leigh has made 23 appearances across all competitions this term, starting ten times in the third tier, with his only goal coming in a 3-1 victory over Cardiff City.
