Bristol Rovers Community Trust is proud to announce a strategic collaboration between Bristol Rovers Football Club (BRFC) and the Royal Dragoon Guards (RDG). This exciting association aims to strengthen ties between the Armed Forces and the wider Bristol community through football, community engagement, and shared values of service, loyalty, and teamwork.
The alliance will bring together two historic and respected institutions – the Royal Dragoon Guards, known for their discipline, courage, and commitment, and Bristol Rovers, a club rooted in loyalty, community spirit, and resilience. Together, they will work to deliver projects that inspire pride, support recruitment, and celebrate the contributions of service personnel and veterans.
Planned areas of collaboration include:
· Matchday Experiences: RDG ceremonial roles, including a guard of honour at fixtures such as Armed Forces Day and Remembrance Weekend.
· Recruitment & Engagement: Opportunities for RDG to connect with younger supporters through stands, talks, and family engagement at the Memorial Stadium.
· Community Projects: Joint college and youth mentoring programmes focusing on leadership, discipline, and resilience.
· Special Events: Charity matches, remembrance events, and dinners or Q&A sessions with RDG representatives and BRFC staff.
· Media & PR: Collaborative content and storytelling to celebrate the partnership and highlight the values shared by both organisations.
Speaking about the venture, Padre Dave Jeal of the Royal Dragoon Guards said:
“This association is more than a celebration of sport and service – it’s a symbol of shared values, community, and tradition. Together, we’re honouring our history, inspiring the next generation, and showing that teamwork – whether on the pitch or in uniform – is at the heart of everything we do.”
Adam Tutton, CEO of Bristol Rovers Community Trust, added:
“We are delighted to be developing this association with the Royal Dragoon Guards. Football has the power to connect people, and through this collaboration we can give back to our Armed Forces community while providing our fans with truly memorable experiences.”
The collaboration will launch later this season, with the first joint events expected to be announced over the coming weeks.
