Bristol Rovers will face Reading, Wycombe Wanderers and Chelsea U21s in the group stages of the 2026/27 EFL Trophy.
The Pirates have been added to Southern Section Group C for the 2026/27 competition and were placed into the pre-determined group on Tuesday alongside EFL League One clubs Reading and Wycombe.
Thursday’s live draw completed the group with the addition of a Premier League Category One Academy, and Chelsea have been drawn to compete with the three EFL sides.
The EFL Trophy group stages will see the involved teams play each other once, either home or away. The Academy side included in each group will play all three of their matches away from home. The top two teams in each group after these games will then progress to the knock-out stages of the competition.
In the event of a draw after 90 minutes in any of the group stage fixtures, a penalty shoot-out will follow. The winning team of that shoot-out will earn an additional point.
The date, time, venue and ticketing details for each Vertu Trophy fixtures will be confirmed in due course.
