Bristol Rovers supporters are advised of the following statement, courtesy of Barrow:
Following a pitch inspection by the match referee James Oldham, today’s game against Bristol Rovers has been postponed.
Yesterday, the pitch was is fine condition and in no way was anyone able to postpone the match in advance based on the evidence that was available.
Unfortunately, temperatures overnight dropped further than forecasted. While every effort has been made, with significant work put in by the grounds team and volunteers, the pitch sadly requires longer today to thaw out than it did yesterday.
The later the pitch was inspected, the better chance the match had of being on. The pitch couldn’t be inspected in the early morning before away supporters had set off, as at this stage it still would’ve been frozen, and another inspection would’ve had to be arranged either way. An 11am inspection was agreed with the EFL and the match referee yesterday to try andgive the pitch the best chance.
We appreciate how far the Bristol Rovers fans have to travel and understand that this outcome is frustrating. Our priority was to ensure every chance of a match taking place today.
Details of the rearranged fixture will be shared when available. Tickets will be transferable and alternatively, refunds will be available.
