Community Trust Announce Belshaw and Anderton as New ‘Player Ambassadors’

15 December 2021

Bristol Rovers Community Trust are delighted to announce that James Belshaw and Nick Anderton have volunteered to become our new Health & Inclusion Ambassadors for the 2021/22 season.

James and Nick will join Alfie Kilgour and Alex Rodman who have been heavily involved with the Community Trust for nearly two years as Sports and Education Ambassadors.

As part of their roles, the two new Ambassadors will support the Community Trust with projects related to their designated area.

James Belshaw – Health

One of the main priorities for the Community Trust is the delivery of projects to help improve the health and well-being of participants in our communities. Our new mental-health football sessions aim to harness the power of sport to improve people’s physical and mental wellbeing while programmes like the long-running Extra Time Club for Over 60’s, helps tackle issues such as loneliness and social isolation, as well as helping to increase participation in physical activity among the senior community. The successful EFL Trust ‘FIT FANS’ programme has also made a significant impact since its launch in 2019 and continues to help many supporters to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle.

Nick Anderton – Inclusion

The social inclusion projects run by the Community Trust aim to improve the opportunities on which individuals and groups take part in society, improving the ability, opportunity, and dignity of those who are disadvantaged. Projects such as the Premier League Kicks programme offers free football opportunities to the whole community using high-quality accessible spaces.

Bristol Rovers Community Trust CEO, Adam Tutton said, “I would like to personally thank James and Nick for volunteering their time to become Ambassadors. Bristol Rovers is a community and family club and I’m thrilled to see our players engaging with the work that we do every day. James and Nick will be joining Alfie Kilgour and Alex Rodman as official Ambassadors and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank them both for their continued commitment to work that we do within our community.”
