The Club is delighted to announce that Zain Walker has signed an extended contract with the Gas!
The youngster signed his first professional deal with the club in summer, but having impressed in the run-up to the new campaign Walker has extended his stay beyond his initial deal. The winger has signed a two-year contract with an optional further year.
Since arriving at the Club at sixteen, Walker has shown real sparks of quality, prompting his debut in November of 2018, in the EFL Trophy against Exeter City, becoming the first player born beyond the turn of the millennium to play for the club.
On Walker's extended deal, Manager Ben Garner said: "We are pleased that Zain has agreed an extended deal, to continue his development with us."
"He's a young player that has really impressed during pre-season, with his performances and his potential.
"Zain grew up near where I’m from and he has a number of attributes that young players from South London naturally develop from that environment. What he has shown alongside those attributes is a desire to learn, to improve, and to mature. He craves knowledge from the coaching staff, always wants to do extra, and analyses all his training sessions and matches.
"We want Zain to carry forward the determination he's shown over pre-season and try to force his way into the team on a regular basis.”
