Leasing.com Match Preview: Bristol Rovers v Swindon Town

12 November 2019

All the pre-match info ahead of Wednesday's Leasing.com Trophy game against Swindon Town.

Rovers' run of cup games continues on Wednesday evening, as Graham Coughlan's men play host to Swindon Town at the Mem.

The fixture is the final outing of the group stage of the Leasing.com Trophy for the Gas, with a lot still to play for against Swindon.

A bonus-point win (a draw and then a win on penalties) or an outright victory will be enough for Rovers to progress to the knockout stages of the competition, following on from a draw against Plymouth Argyle and a win over Chelsea's U21's in the competition already.

Swindon haven't enjoyed much joy in the Leasing.com Trophy so far and sit bottom of the group with no points from their opening two matches in the competition.

Coach's Preview: Kevin Maher was on press duty on Tuesday morning to offer his take on Wednesday's encounter and spoke about the importance of progressing to the knock-out stages of the competition.

Player's Preview: Ever-present midfielder Ed Upson was also speaking with the local press on Tuesday and spoke about the cohesion in the Rovers ranks.

Opposition: Swindon are towards the top of Sky Bet League Two and currently sit in 3rd position, just a point of league leaders, Forest Green Rovers. Richie Wellens side have enjoyed three wins on the spin in the league in recent weeks, but haven't enjoyed the best of times in the Leasing.com Trophy, with defeat against both Plymouth and Chelsea U21's in the opening two fixtures, meaning that they are no longer able qualify for the next round.
