James Clarke Joins Walsall

30 May 2019

Defender James Clarke has agreed a deal to join Walsall, after turning down the offer of a new contract with Bristol Rovers.

The club offered an improved two-year contract, but we were unable to agree terms and as such the player has looked to seek a new challenge.

The deal will officially go through on July 1st and is subject to FA and EFL approval.

James joined Rovers back in 2015 following the club's return to the Football League and made his debut on the opening day of the season at home to Northampton Town, before playing a large part in the subsequent promotion into League One that campaign.

Despite suffering a number of injury setbacks during his time at the Memorial Stadium, James amassed a total of 126 appearances over four seasons.

The 29-year old's final game for the club came in the dramatic 2-1 win over Barnsley, on the closing day of the 2018/19 campaign.

Everyone at the club would like to wish James all the best in his next chapter and thank him for all his effort during his time at BS7.
