Sam Matthews Returns to Eastleigh on Loan

21 March 2019

Rovers midfielder Sam Matthews has returned to Eastleigh on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Sam originally joined from the National League side in the summer, following an impressive campaign with the Spireites which saw him named the club's Player of the Season.

The winger made his debut for Rovers on the opening day of the season, coming on as a second-half substitute in the defeat at Peterborough United; the first of his 24 appearances in the blue and white quarters so far.

First team opportunities have been limited for the 22-year old of late, with his last game for the club coming in the 1-0 defeat to Wycombe Wanderers back in January.

Eastleigh are vying for promotion to the Football League this campaign and have a real chance of doing so as they sit 7th in the table, occupying the final play-off spot with eight games to go.

Everyone at the club wishes Sam well during his time with Hampshire club.
