Match Preview: Northampton Town v Bristol Rovers

7 January 2019

All the pre-match content heading into Tuesday's Checkatrade Trophy encounter with Northampton Town.

Rovers head to Sixfields with the hope of progressing one step further in this season's Checkatrade Trophy.

A seven day break has allowed the squad to rest and recuperate from what was a hectic, but profitable festive schedule, with two away games on the agenda this week - starting with a mid-week Checkatrade Trophy tie in Northamptonshire.

Recent trips to Sixfields have been profitable for Rovers, with our last fixture ending in a 6-0 victory back in October 2017.

Manager's View: Graham Coughlan spoke to the press for the first time today as the permanent Rovers Manager and outlined his ambitions for the immediate future, while also offering his thoughts heading into tomorrow's knock-out stage fixture against the Cobblers.

Michael Kelly's View: The 21-year-old hit the twenty appearance milestone for the season in our last game and spoke about the progression he has made so far this campaign and the squad's desire to make it through to the final rounds of the Checkatrade Trophy.

Opposition: Northampton Town currently sit in 17th position in Sky Bet League Two. Like Rovers, Northampton have had a seven-day break from their last outing, as they lost out 2-1 to Forest Green Rovers on New Year's Day. To progress to this stage of the competition, Northampton overcame Cambridge United in a penalty shoot-out in the last round and before that advanced in a group that included Wycombe Wanderers, Oxford United and Fulham's U21s. Northampton's last victory in any competition came at the start of December against Crawley Town - as Keith Curle's side have so far scored exactly half of their 32 goals this season on home soil.

Tickets: Supporters will be able to pay on the day at the ground tomorrow. Ticket details including prices can be found in the link below.

Following The Action: Supporters based both in the UK and abroad will be able to purchase a match pass for the knockout fixture - priced at just £10, with full details available below.
