Interview: Michael Kelly

9 January 2018

After picking up the praise of being named in the National League South Team of the weekend, we catch up with Development Squad defender, Michael Kelly.

The Scottish full-back was singled out for praise during Bath City's goalless draw against Truro City and helped to keep quiet one the top scorers in the National League South, Truro forward Cody Cooke.

Kelly, who joined Bath on loan just ahead of the festive period, has benefited from regular playing time during his loan deal and is enjoying the constant flow of competitive football.

"I was delighted to see that when it popped up on my twitter," admitted the defender on his reward of being named in the team of the week.

"The team did really well on Saturday and personally I was pleased with my performance on the day as well."

"It was one of those games where we knew we had to take our opportunities in front of goal and if we did that then we would have won the game."

"I thought that we were by far the better side on the day and the weekend was topped off when I saw that I was included in the team of the week."

The defender knows that his progress is constantly being monitored by the Development Squad staff and feels his time at Twerton Park has helped benefit him as a player.

"Chris (Hargreaves) is always trying to attend matches and is constantly providing feedback, for not just myself, but all the other lads out on loan as well.

"The staff at the Development Squad are always putting on extra sessions after training, little one-on-one drills and are always giving feedback on what we can do better."
