The defender talked to the press on Thursday in the build-up to this weekend's trip to face Doncaster Rovers.
Tom is one of three defenders to sign a new contract with the club over the past month and signalled he was pleased to get everything sorted to allow him to continue his focus on performances on the field.
"I was delighted to get the new contract," said the defender.
"I didn't think that it would happen this early, but it is good to get it done and I can now concentrate on the rest of the season now."
The twenty-six-year-old has made seventeen appearances so far this season and insists that he is enjoying the game time that has led to positive reviews from both the Manager and the Rovers fanbase and discusses the healthy competition for places in the heart of the Rovers defence.
"Obviously, like every player, I would have liked to play more games, but I think that I have played more games than I first expected and I would like to think that I could play more."
"It's always good to have competition and we will keep competing for places between now and the end of the season."
