Match Preview: Portsmouth v Bristol Rovers

Take a look at tonights opponents, Portsmouth F.C.

26 September 2017

Rovers head to Fratton Park on Tuesday evening looking to build on Saturday's victory over Blackpool F.C.

Rovers: Darrell Clarke's men head into Tuesday's game following a dramatic late win over Blackpool at the Memorial Stadium, as goals from Ryan Sweeney and Ellis Harrison inside the final ten minutes helped Rovers achieve victory over in-form Blackpool.

September has been a busy month for Rovers, as tonight's game signals the seventh game already this calendar month, with the visit of Plymouth Argyle still yet to come before the start of October.

Darrell Clarke's View:

Dangerman - Brett Pitman

The former Bournemouth and Ipswich striker arrived at Fratton Park back in July for an undisclosed fee, a move that saw the Jersey-born forward return to the South-coast.

Tipped to be among the front-runners for the top scorer in the division this season, the striker got off the mark instantly, netting twice in Portsmouth's 2-0 victory over Rochdale on the opening day of the season.

Since his brace against Rochdale, goals against Walsall, AFC Wimbledon and a further two strikes against Fleetwood have ensured that Kenny Jackett's summer addition is Portsmouth's leading scorer.

So far, Portsmouth are unbeaten in every game where the striker has found the net.

Last Time Out: Rovers last visited Fratton Park back in November 2016 in the Checkatrade Trophy. On the night a Kal Naismith strike was enough to separate the sides, as Portsmouth's victory was enough to halt Rovers' progress beyond the group stage of the competition.
