Three To Watch: Oldham Athletic

Take a look at the potential threats in the ranks of tomorrow's opponents, Oldham Athletic

11 September 2017

Tuesday night's visitors to the Memorial Stadium sit bottom of the League One table with just the one point to show from their six games.

John Sheridan's men have struggled at the back this season conceding 14 goals in the league already.

However, after a run of five straight losses, the Latics registered their first point of the season with a hard fought 2-2 draw against Fleetwood Town at Highbury.

So as Oldham make their way to BS7 for tomorrow's game, we take a look at the potential threats in the ranks of tomorrow's opponents.

Eoin Doyle - Striker

Doyle [pictured above] joined the Latics on loan on deadline day and went straight into the squad for the club's game at home against Charlton where he scored in a 3-4 loss.

Eoin Doyle signed a permanent deal for North End in the summer 2016, after spending the 2015/16 season on loan at the Club from Cardiff City.

The striker had joined the Welsh side mid-way through the 2014/15 season, after an impressive start to the season with League One side Chesterfield.

The Irishman scored 25 goals in 33 appearances for the Spireites during the 2014/15 season, before signing for the Bluebirds.

Craig Davies - Striker

In his second spell with the club, Davies [pictured above] has been in prolific form this season for a side at the bottom of the league.

The journeyman striker has scored three times in five appearances so far for the Latics including goals against Burton Albion, Charlton Athletic and on Saturday against Fleetwood Town.

Davies is well travelled throughout the EFL having had previous spells at Wolves, Brighton, Barnsley and Preston among many others.

Jack Byrne - Midfielder

Byrne [pictured above] joined Oldham Athletic from fellow League One side Wigan on in the summer and has played every game since his arrival.

The highly-rated Republic of Ireland Under-21 central midfielder signed for Wigan from Manchester City on deadline day in January 2017, arriving on a three-year deal.

A skilful, quick-footed and technically-gifted player, he will be looking to establish himself within the EFL.

Capped 20 times by the Republic of Ireland at youth international level, he progressed through the age groups at City’s academy but never played a first team game and chose instead to go on loan in the Dutch Eredivisie with SC Cambuur for the 2015-16 season, where he played 27 games and scored four goals.
