Match Preview: Northampton Town v Bristol Rovers

6 October 2017

Take a look at this weekend's opponents, Northampton Town.

Rovers: Darrell Clarke's men head into Saturday's game on the back of 2-1 victory at the Mem over Plymouth Argyle last Saturday and a rare free week, with no midweek game over the past seven days.

Opposition: Following a poor start to the season, Northampton Town parted company with Manager Justin Edinburgh and replaced the former Tottenham player with ex-Chelsea star, Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. Since his arrival, Hasselbank has secured two wins, three draws and three defeats.

 Dangerman - Alex Revell

Northampton Town signed striker Alex Revell [pictured above] on a two-year contract in June 2016 after he rejected offers from a number of other clubs to make the move to Sixfields.

The 6ft 3in Revell has a host of experience at Championship and League 1 level and can name Brighton & Hove Albion, Southend United, Leyton Orient, Rotherham United, Cardiff City, Wigan Athletic and MK Dons amongst his previous clubs, recording nearly 500 senior appearances.

He spent the 2015/16 season in the Championship with Cardiff City and MK Dons as well as enjoying a loan spell with League One Champions Wigan Athletic, scoring six times.

Revell only has two goals to his name so far this campaign but will be one of the Cobblers main threats this weekend.

Last Time Out: Ellis Harrison scored four goals and was on hand to help with an assist as Rovers thumped Northampton Town 5-0 back in January at the Mem.
