Three to Watch: Scunthorpe United

10 November 2017

Rovers travel to take on Scunthorpe United on Saturday in SkyBet League One.

Under the guidance of Graham Alexander, Scunthorpe have climbed into the top six in the early stages of the season.

In recent games, the Iron are unbeaten in five games and have played their last three games on the road.

Take a look at the potential dangermen in the ranks of Scunthorpe below.

Josh Morris - Midfield

Since his arrival in June 2016, Morris has enjoyed a consistent eye for goal.

Last season the midfielder scored twenty goals to help Scunthorpe reach the playoffs and has continued that form in front of goal this season, with six goals in all competitions.

The former Carlisle, Fleetwood and Bradford attacking playmaker scored four goals in five games between August and September. More recently, Morris has rediscovered his scoring touch, with two goals in his last three outings.

It is worth mentioning that Scunthorpe have gone on to win in every game where Morris has appeared on the scoresheet.

Lee Novak - Striker

A new arrival at Scunthorpe in the summer, the ex-Charlton striker didn't enjoy the best start to life at his new club, as the forward was shown a red card in the opening game of the season at the Valley and had to sit out many of Scunthorpe's early season fixtures.

A goal in the EFL Cup opened his account for the Iron, as the twenty-nine-year-old forward scored Scunthorpe's only goal of the game in a 4-1 defeat against Norwich.

The striker has been singled out for praise by Manager Graham Alexander in recent games, as consecutive goals in fixtures against Peterborough and Fleetwood extended Novak's tally to five goals for the season.

Duane Holmes - Midfield

The American midfielder joined the ranks at Glanford Park ahead of the 2016/17 season and been an ever-present feature in the Scunthorpe midfield since his arrival.

Last campaign Holmes tallied just under forty-appearances and has already surpassed his goal tally from last season, with five goals so far this season.

Holmes netted a late goal in a five-goal thriller to defeat the resurgent Oldham Athletic towards the end of October, in what was his most recent goal.
