The Club's match day experience at the Mem has been recognised by the English Football League.
This season celebrates 10 years of The EFL Family Excellence Awards, with a record-breaking number of 51 clubs being recognised by the EFL for their match day experience for families at their respective grounds.
The Awards scheme recognises the outstanding experience provided by clubs for young fans and families, as well as their efforts to enhance the matchday experience, and is given to Clubs following two separate genuine family visits to the stadium as home supporters. As a genuine visit from a real family whose children are coming to live football for the first time, it represents the ultimate family accolade. Over the past 10 years, more and more young people have made their way through the turnstiles in the EFL, with junior season ticket sales having increased by a staggering 37% since 2007, and 20% of all EFL club match attendees now under the age of 16. The Family Excellence Awards scheme rewards those clubs whose ‘family experiences’ demonstrate not only are aware of the needs of our ‘fans of the future’ but that they can also ‘deliver’ when it comes to the match day itself.
The EFL's visits to the Memorial Stadium highlighted the improved entertainment for families on a match day, with the newly launched 'Fun Zone' offering a hub for younger supporters when attending fixtures at the Mem. The Club was praised for its friendly service from both the matchday stewards and Club Shop staff and the selection of a wide variety of food outlets.
