LOAN DEALS FOR LUCAS AND LYTTLE

15 January 2016

Rovers striker Jamie Lucas has today rejoined Vanarama National League side Boreham Wood in a loan deal until the end of the current season.

It will be the second time this season he has spent a loan spell with the club, having scored three goals in 11 appearances earlier in the season, including a goal on his debut against FC Halifax Town on 8th August 20125.

He has made two substitute appearances for Darrell Clarke’s side this season, against Plymouth Argyle in a League Two fixture at Home Park in September and against Southend United in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in November.

Swansea born Jamie was actually brought up in Bromsgrove and spent a season with Bristol Rovers Central, an outreach Development Group of the club based in Henley in Arden.

A prolific striker for our youth team, he completed two years as a scholar in the summer of 2014, although he had been offered a pro deal at the end of his first year, following an outstanding season for our U-18 side in 2012/13 when they completed a league and cup double.

He made his Rovers debut in our home game against Rochdale on 21st April 2014, when going on as a late substitute at the Memorial Stadium.

Jamie spent time on loan at Gloucester City last season as well as two loan spells with Weston super Mare.

Meanwhile another of our young professionals, Tyler Lyttle, has extended his stay with Vanarama National League North side Nuneaton Town.

He has so far made three league appearances for Nuneaton, whose manager Kevin Wilson briefly assisted Garry Thompson at Rovers.

Nuneaton are currently in fifth place in the league standings, five points behind leaders Solihull Moors.

The son of former Nottingham Forest and West Bromwich Albion player Des, England Schoolboy international Tyler was released by Wolverhampton Wanderers three years ago.

He took a year out from the game to concentrate on his education and joined Rovers as a second year scholar in the summer of 2014.

Tyler was awarded his first pro contract in the summer of 2015, shortly after being named as Youth Team Player of the Year for 2014/15.

He made his first team debut on 29th August 2015, against Leyton Orient, at Brisbane Road and also made a brief appearance as a substitute against Wycombe Wanderers in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in October 2015.

Everyone at Bristol Rovers wish Jamie and Tyler every success between now and the end of the season.
