ROVERS TO HELP THE HUNGRY AND HOMELESS AT CHRISTMAS

8 December 2016

Bristol Rovers Football Club, Bristol Rovers Community Trust and Bristol Rovers Supporters Club have been collecting items of food since mid-November to help The Salvation Army as they approach Christmas, their busiest time of the year.

As a football club we are pleased to be able to help those less fortunate than ourselves and we feel a great affinity with The Salvation Army at Bristol Easton as they have often come along to The Memorial Stadium to entertain us with a selection of Christmas carols as the festive season approaches.

Indeed, they were with us last Sunday when we hosted Barrow AFC in the FA Cup and their entertaining programme was greatly appreciated by Rovers and Barrow supporters alike.

Bristol Easton Corps of the Salvation Army will receive the goods we have collected on Monday 12th December, from two senior members of Bristol Rovers squad, at 2.30pm. Members of Bristol Easton Band will provide some festive cheer in what is a busy week for them in the lead up to their annual fundraising Christmas event on Saturday 17 December at St Mary Redcliffe with Laura Wright.

We would like to thank all those who have donated to this very worthy cause as these goods will be welcomed by The Salvation Army who, in turn, will help provide food and warmth to the local homeless population and will also distribute meals and hampers to vulnerable people within the Bristol community.

It is not too late to donate to our collection, the club will be collecting through to Monday 12th December, so anything Gasheads could spare over the weekend would be greatly appreciated.
