STEVE PHILLIPS JOINS ACADEMY COACHING STAFF

18 April 2016

Bristol Rovers are pleased to announce that Steve Phillips has accepted the offer to become the new Academy goalkeeping coach.

Steve spent 4 years at Bristol Rovers as first team goalkeeper during 2006 to 2010 where he made 165 appearances. He was part of the 2006/07 team that secured promotion to League 1 and was also named as Player of the Year as well as winning the Football League Golden Glove award for most clean sheets in the same season.

He also has had spells at Bristol City, Shrewsbury Town and Crewe Alexandra which has seen him make over 600 senior appearances in his career.

Steve has previous coaching experience having worked with both Crewe Alexandra and Liverpool’s Academy programs, and also runs his own goalkeeping school locally. He holds the UEFA B Licence for both outfield and goalkeepers, as well as holding the FA Youth Award.

We are delighted to have someone of Steve’s significant experience join the program and we look forward to him supporting the development of the Academy goalkeepers going forward.
