The end of the season is fast approaching and with players who have been in this sort of position before, such as Chris Lines and Jermaine Easter. Darrell Clarke will no doubt be looking for them to guide the younger players of the team across the line.“The senior players play their part, but the younger players will also have a job to do. We need to focus on the games that are coming up and try and get back to back wins in them.”
This season, Rovers have been very solid away from home only losing 3 games away from the Mem this season and Jermaine Easter told us “Since I’ve been at the club the away fixtures have been difficult but the lads have done brilliantly to be in the position they’re in and hopefully we can see it over the line”.
Not only away from home has Rovers’ form been good but they have the best home form in the league. In 20 games they have won 14 drawn 4 and lost only 2.
“When we get them at the mem and we’ve got 7 or 8 thousand behind us it’s a lot better coming to places like this (Macclesfield) and its difficult, the teams we play grind it out and make it really difficult.”
It is getting to crunch time now in the Vanarama Conference with only five games to go for Rovers. Their final fixtures include Chester, Southport, Alfreton at home and Kidderminster and Dover away from home.
Easter said “ 15 points will take us to 93 if I’m correct, so that may be enough, it may not be enough but all we can do is try and win all the games and see where it takes us”.
Bristol Rovers will be hoping to win all 5 of their remaining fixtures in order to guarantee automatic promotion rather than fight for it through the play offs.
