PIRATE PICKS UP ANOTHER AWARD

23 January 2015

Matchday programme wins Programme of the Year Award

The Pirate, our matchday programme, has picked up its second award of the season, having been named as Non league Programme of The Year by Programme Magazine Independent View.

The complete article on their thoughts about our programme will appear in The Pirate for the match against Lincoln City on 7th February, but this is part of what they had to say.

'The Pirate has been awarded our 2014/15 Programme of the Year and by quickly scanning the pages it is easy to see why the six judges opted for this one.

'This 56 pager for £3 certainly includes just about everything one would require from a traditional matchday programme.

'And tradition is where the strength of this programme lies. As well as a superb collage of outstanding features, in both words and pictures, the historical content, a necessary ingredient of any substantial programme, is here in abundance.

'The whole programme is a first rate effort by everyone involved and as one judge commented; "there was always going to be only one winner in this category"

It's the second award for our programme this season, as it was judged to be the best programme in the Vanarama Conference by the Midlands Programme Club earlier in the season.

Programme Editor Keith Brookman said; “To pick up another award for The Pirate is very pleasing and reflects on the hard work undertaken by a team of contributors on a voluntary basis.

“It’s very difficult, in these days of instant access to information, to produce a matchday magazine that doesn’t replicate the information that can be found on the club’s website and while some duplication is unavoidable we do try to publish as much unique information as possible in our programme.

Thanks, as always, go to our dedicated team of contributors, our programme sellers and designer Ann Walter and, most of all, to those supporters who continue to purchase copies of The Pirate.”

Independent View is published by IV Sports Publications, 4 King Street, Blyth, Northumberland, NE24 1LY and is available on subscription (three issues cost £11.70) from Neil Patterson, 4 Knaresborough Close, Bedlington, Northumberland, NE22 6NT.
