CHAIRMAN'S REPORT

1 December 2015

The latest from Rovers Chairman Nick Higgs

A great deal has happened, both on and off the pitch, since I wrote my notes for our home game against Stevenage last Tuesday.

Two players, Paris Cowan-Hall and Rory Gaffney, arrived on loan from Millwall and Cambridge United respectively and I would like to formally welcome them both to the club and wish them every success during their time with us.

Both have already made impressive debuts for us, Paris against Stevenage and Rory down at Exeter on Saturday.

As for those games, it's hard to believe that we only took one point from them. I felt that the very least we deserved from the Stevenage match was a point, but we were beaten by the odd goal in three. However we bounced back after that setback to put in an outstanding performance at Exeter when the home side equalised with virtually the last kick of the game.

Those of you who travelled down to St James' Park saw us play some excellent football in difficult conditions, and only some outstanding goalkeeping and defending by the home side prevented us from registering another away win.

This evening we face Wycombe Wanderers at The Memorial Stadium for the second time this season, having already beaten them in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy. It’s our game in hand on most of the clubs in the league and a win would take us to within two points of a play off place.

Early last week we announced plans for a pre-season training camp in Spain, where we will play a match against Sabadell, a side with whom we have developed a great affinity thanks to the help and involvement of a number of our supporters.

Officials of Sabadell have been extremely helpful in assisting with the planning of the trip and we look forward to developing a long term relationship between our clubs.

On the commercial front, we have joined forces with online shop First Personalised Gifts to enable supporters to purchase personalised Rovers gifts not available from our club shop. We are also in the process of redesigning our own merchandise website to help supporters purchasing Rovers related items.

Our monthly competition inviting supporters to design a t-shirt has been very well received and the first winner will be introduced to you tonight.

It was a pleasure to meet many of our supporters at The Supporters Club AGM last Thursday and to hear their comments and thoughts on what is currently happening at the club.

As always, thank you all for your continued support.
