UNDER 18'S RUN OUT COMFORTABLE WINNERS

1 April 2015

Bristol Rovers 3-0 Northampton Town

Sat 28th March 2015

Goals from Ryan Broom (2) and Blake Davies gave our U-18 side victory in last Saturday’s match against Northampton Town.

Wet and windy conditions at Golden Hill made things difficult for both sides but Rovers, playing with the wind in their favour, scored all three goals in the first half.

“We adapted to the conditions very well in that opening period,” said Youth Team Manager Alan Walsh.

“Northampton found it difficult to get out of their own half at times and were on the back foot as early as the third minute, when we scored our first goal.

“A good passage of play involving Blake Davies and Laurent Davis-Wilson ended with Blake, who has scored a number of goals for us recently, slotting the ball past the Northampton keeper.

“The second goal arrived after 20 minutes and Ryan Broom created the opportunity for himself. He collected the ball some way from goal and ran at the visiting defenders before scoring from just inside the area.

“Ryan scored his second goal of the game on the half hour mark when he intercepted a clearance from the keeper just inside Northampton half and set off on a run that took him past three players and into the box before unleashing a shot that nestled in the back of the net.

“They were three excellent goals and we might have added more before the half time whistle as we created a number of other opportunities.

“Northampton had the advantage of the wind behind them in the second half, but created very little, while we were unable to add to our goal tally.

The lads deserve great credit, though, as it was their third game and third win in the space of eight days. They did well to come out on top again and keep another clean sheet.”
