Young keeper heads to the Premiership
Goalkeeper Matt Macey has today joined Arsenal.
A host of Premier League clubs expressed an interest in the highly rated youngster, with Arsenal eventually winning the race for his signature.
The 18-year-old impressed Arsene Wenger while on trial at the club over recent weeks.
Although Matt was out of contract, Rovers will receive a compensation fee.
Bristol Rovers Chairman Nick Higgs said: “Whilst we are disappointed to lose such a talented youngster, he exercised his right to leave the club and we could not stand in his way when this offer came in.
“We wish Matt every success for the future, and hope he goes on to have an excellent career in the Premiership.”
Next week we will have an indepth chat to Tom Curtis about the success of the Youth Department.
