SMITH WINS PLAYER OF THE YEAR

20 April 2013

Defender takes home top award

Michael Smith has been named the Supporters Club Player of the Year.

The defender picked up the award pitch-side after today’s game.

Consistent Smith, 24, signed from Ballymena in the summer of 2011, playing professional football for the first time at Bristol Rovers.

He has improved and developed dramatically over the last two years, earning himself a new contract, which he signed earlier this week.

Captain Tom Parkes was named Young Player of the Year. The defender has been at the heart of Rovers improved back four, and has really grown as a player since being given the responsibility of the Captain’s armband.

Matt Macey picked up the Alan Lacock Youth Team Player of the Year trophy.

And goal of the year went to Oli Norburn for his 40 yard screamer away at Cheltenham.
