EAVES JOINS ON LOAN

27 September 2012

Bolton striker will spend three months with the Gas

Bristol Rovers have signed Bolton striker Tom Eaves on loan.

The youngster will spend the next three months at the Memorial Stadium.

Manager Mark McGhee said: “Tom was a young lad at Oldham who did brilliantly, and was snapped up by Bolton.

“He had a bad injury last pre season, but he has come back and he needs to play games.

“He is a big lad, about Matt Harrold’s size, he runs the channels, does a bit of everything, and can play as well.

“He has shown a lot of promise and we hope he can bring something to the side in the absence of Matt, and provide competition to Joe, Eliot and Clarkey.”

Eaves, 20, joined Oldham’s Centre of Excellence in 2007 after starting his youth career with Crewe.

He made his Football League debut in January 2010 as a substitute during a 1–0 defeat to Millwall He made 15 appearances in the 2009/10 season for Oldham, all of them as a substitute.

Eaves joined Bolton on a three year contract for an undisclosed fee on 12 August 2010.

Chairman Nick Higgs said: “I am delighted to welcome Tom to the club.

“I would like to thank Bolton for letting us take Tom on loan for the next three month. His arrival gives us more competition up front.”

Tom will wear squad number 32, the same as he has at Bolton.
