It is time to vote for your Bristol Rovers Men's February Player Of The Month, sponsored by Christophe Duchamp!
Steve Evans' team played six times across the month, starting with an impressive 2-0 victory over promotion hopefuls Walsall before a narrow 3-2 defeat to Chesterfield at The Memorial Stadium in a contest that could have gone either way.
Defeats away to Cambridge United and Oldham Athletic were followed by a strong end to February. The Gas beat Grimsby Town 3-1 at home before a 1-1 draw with Swindon Town in a local derby, with Kane Thompson-Sommers breaking the deadlock with a fine strike before Ollie Palmer levelled after half-time.
Gasheads can now vote for the Rovers player who stood out as the Player Of The Month in February, with four options from the men’s first team to choose from!
Yusuf Akhamrich
Yusuf Akhamrich has impressed in his first loan spell away from Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur.
His brace against Newport County at the end of January caught the eyes of every Gashead, with the 20-year-old starting February strongly. On a cold and windy Tuesday night against Walsall, Akhamrich broke the deadlock with a fine finish past Myles Roberts.
Akhamrich started two of the next three games before moving into a more central role against Grimsby. Akhamrich registered an early assist, driving the ball across to Joe Quigley to finish before adding a goal of his own, showing great composure to move the ball onto his left foot before curling a clever strike into the bottom corner.
Kofi Balmer
Kofi Balmer played every minute available in February and has contributed at both ends of the pitch for the Pirates.
The defender, brought in on loan from Motherwell, was not known for his spectacular goals from range, but hit two stunning volleys at The Mem. His first came against Walsall, where he blasted a fine left-footed strike beyond the reach of the goalkeeper. Not only that, he was part of a defence that kept a clean sheet, with Balmer registering 16 defensive contributions from right-back.
A few games later, Balmer was at it again. Just two minutes into the game against Grimsby, the defender used his right foot this time, driving a clever volley into the bottom corner to lift the Gasheads off their feet.
Joe Quigley
Joe Quigley made an immediate impact on his Rovers debut and has been a constant threat to opposition defences ever since. Brought on against Chesterfield, the striker got above his marker and knocked a header across to Shaq Forde to score.
The forward has started every game since, winning and netting a penalty against Cambridge United before scoring his first goal at The Mem versus Grimsby, showing his instincts by running across the defender to finish low past Jackson Smith.
His height and physicality have been an asset for the Pirates when defending corners, with the striker registering ten defensive contributions in the 1-1 draw with Swindon.
Brad Young
Brad Young has been in superb form in goal for the Gas. The shot-stopper has made at least three saves in five of Rovers' six matches in February and started the month with a clean sheet against Walsall.
However, his most memorable matches were the last two in the month. Rovers' 3-1 victory over Grimsby might look comfortable on the scoreline, especially with the two early goals, but Young made top stops to help his team over the line.
He denied Jamie Walker just before half-time, with the score a 2-1, before an even better save in the final moments, pushing away Andy Cook's close-range effort to help secure all three points.
Young then made five saves against Swindon, with Rovers gaining a point away in a local derby. Additionally, he has commanded the box with his height as well as shown his ability to read the game, sweeping away loose balls outside the box.
