Rovers take on Prostate United Challenge

Prostate United

Bristol Rovers is proud to announce that members of the men's first team staff and playing squad are participating in the Prostate United fundraising challenge throughout October.

The initiative, founded by football coaches nationwide, challenges participants to run or cycle every day for a month. The campaign unites football clubs and fans across the country to help save men's lives, with over 1,400 people taking part last year.

The number 45 is prevalent on the back of the shirt, with one man in the UK dying from prostate cancer every 45 minutes. One in eight men is diagnosed with it in their lifetime, with it being the most common cancer in England.

Darrell Clarke and the rest of his coaching team are getting involved, with players like Alfie Kilgour and Brad Young also up for the challenge.

Speaking about the initiative, Head Of Medical And Performance, Gavin Crowe said: "I think the main thing is trying to raise money for Prostate United. I have participated in it for the last four or five years, and it's a big thing in the football community where backroom staff have come together to raise awareness and money for the charity.

"So, it's something that I wanted to continue since I have come to the Club, and the staff here have really got behind it."
