Experienced referee Stephen Martin will be officiating Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two fixture between Walsall and Bristol Rovers at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium.
Martin started his officiating career in 2003 and has refereed over 500 fixtures in all competitions. He has 260 Championship games to his name, with 26 last term, and has officiated all over the world. He has refereed twice in the J2 League in 2013 and also four youth international friendlies between 2015 and 2017.
This will be his first Rovers fixture since April 2021, when the Gas lost 2-1 to Ipswich Town at Portman Road. He has also refereed 76 matches in Sky Bet League Two. His most recent fixture was in the Sky Bet Championship between West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City, where the Foxes netted a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw.
He will be accompanied by assistant referees Joe Simpson and Wayne Grunnill, as well as Jonathan Maskrey, who is the Fourth Official.
