Arvin Appiah is relishing the chance to participate in a derby ahead of Bristol Rovers' fixture against Swindon Town in Sky Bet League Two.
The Pirates welcome the Robins to The Mem for one of Saturday's early kick-offs in the fourth tier, knowing a packed crowd will be right behind them as they search for a first home win over Swindon since January 2017.
The Gas have been on a tough run of form and are against a Swindon side that just beat early promotion favourites 3-1 at The Hive, but The Mem has been a difficult place for opposition teams to come this season.
Appiah joined the Pirates in early October and has played three times for the Gas across all competitions. Speaking to the media ahead of the match, he said that he has settled in well and has full confidence the squad will get back to winning ways and go on a run.
SETTLING IN
"Before joining, I knew a few players here, and with my personality and how I am, I feel like I can integrate myself very easily into a team like this. I can't wait to get going."
MOVING TO THE GAS
"Of course, I was a free agent, and I have some history with the manager, Steve Evans, back when I was at Rotherham in the Championship. We got on very well, and he's a great manager."
PLAYING ABROAD
"It was a great experience. It's different over there, especially compared to the UK. I would say over there [Spain] it's a lot more tactical and technical, and I had to improve that whilst I was there. I am grateful for that opportunity, so I can't complain."
TOUGH RUN OF RESULTS
"That's football. There are a lot of highs and lows, but with the squad we have, I am sure we'll achieve what everyone is hoping for this season. If everyone does what they need to do on the pitch and off the pitch, the sky is the limit.
"We have a great squad and once we get our win, hopefully tomorrow, I feel like we'll go on another massive run. I have confidence in the squad and the staff here."
BUILDING FITNESS
"I would say that I am gradually getting there. It's been difficult, but I try my hardest with the minutes I get, especially on the training ground and in the gym."
SWINDON PREVIEW
"I spoke to Clinton, who said it is a derby. With the fans that we've got, I'm looking forward to what the derby is going to be like, and if I get the opportunity to start or come on, I'll be grateful."
HIS STANDOUT DERBIES
"Obviously, there is Nottingham Forest against Derby, and in Spain, there is Málaga against Almería. I'm looking forward to tomorrow's one. The standout one is Nottingham Forest against Derby; that gets really wild."
