Meet The Officials | Cambridge United (H)

James Durkin

Referee James Durkin will be officiating Bristol Rovers' Vertu Trophy Round Of 32 fixture against Cambridge United at The Memorial Stadium.

This will be the first time Durkin has refereed a Rovers fixture and only the third time he has overseen one, including Cambridge, with his previous two coming last season. His previous U's match was in April 2025, with Charlton Athletic coming away with a 1-0 victory at the Cledara Abbey Stadium.

Durkin has refereed 85 times in the National League, more than any other competition in his career, but has featured more in Sky Bet League One and Two this campaign. His last match came in the fourth tier midway through November, with Colchester United beating Walsall 2-0 away from home.

The referee has officiated five Vertu Trophy matches in his career, delivering 12 cards in that time. All of his games have come in the group stages, with his only fixture this term coming between Wycombe Wanderers and Fulham U21s, with the Chairboys collecting a 3-1 triumph.

Durkin has also refereed at Wembley, officiating Bromley's penalty victory over Solihull Moors in the National League Play-Off Final.

Alongside him will be assistant referees Andrew Ellis and Ryan Whitaker. Steven Plane has been appointed as the fourth official.
