Tranmere Rovers v Bristol Rovers
Sky Bet League Two, Prenton Park, Saturday 18 April 2026, 3pm KO
Bristol Rovers will be hoping to be in seven heaven come full-time on Saturday afternoon when Steve Evans’ Gas make the trip to play Tranmere Rovers in Sky Bet League Two.
The Gas head into this weekend’s fixture on the back of an incredible six consecutive wins in the league, making the Pirates the in-form side across the entire EFL at present time.
It was ten years ago that Rovers last secured six successive league victories and a seventh this weekend against Tranmere would be the first time since the 1952/53 season that the Club would have achieved such a feat.
Standing in their way is a Tranmere side who are, in stark contrast to Steve Evans’ side, are enduring a torrid time in 2026. Whereas Bristol Rovers have collected 25 points in their last ten games, Tranmere have just two and sit in 20th in the table; just one point outside the drop zone.
A credible 1-1 draw away to Chesterfield last time out got a point on the board for interim manager Pete Wild, with the team looking for their first win since a 2-0 victory over Crawley Town on Saturday 14 February 2026.

Travel…
Prenton Park is a little over a three-hour drive from Bristol with supporters advised to travel up via the M5 and M6. The quickest route is through Birmingham and then taking the M56 towards North Wales, Chester and Runcorn. Link up with the M53 towards Birkenhead, exit at Junction 4 and follow directions for the Stadium.
Paid parking is available for supporters who arrive at Prenton Park early enough, while there are also options at Birch Tree Pub and Borough Road Sports Ground.
If travelling by train, the two closest options to Tranmere Rovers are Rock Ferry and Birkenhead Central. Both are a 15-minute walk from Prenton Park and each is serviced by Liverpool Lime Street.
Supporters are advised that trains between Bristol Temple Meads and Liverpool Lime Street take, on average, four-and-a-half hours, and the final return journey on Saturday 18 April departs Liverpool Lime Street at 7.12pm BST.
Opposition…
It’s a nervous time to be a Tranmere Rovers fan.
While the side picked up a valuable point last Saturday, away to Chesterfield, Tranmere have only collected five points in total throughout their last 18 fixtures.
It’s a far cry from the Tranmere side that looked impressive in the first half of the campaign, a run of results which included a 4-1 win at The Memorial Stadium in the reverse fixture.
It is because of that good early form that Tranmere remain outside the relegation zone but, with four games left to play, Rovers are undoubtedly looking over their shoulders at the teams below them.
Just one point separates them from the drop zone and, with Crawley Town, Newport County, Barrow and Harrogate Town all picking up wins in recent weeks, Tranmere know how crucial a big victory is to keep the gap and remain in Sky Bet League Two.
The task falls to interim head coach Pete Wild, who was appointed in early March to the role until the end of the season. The former Oldham Athletic and Fleetwood Town boss replaced Andy Parkinson in the dug-out with the objective of keeping the side in the Football League and not seeing their stay across League One and League Two end after eight years.
Previous Meetings…
You have to go back 15 years to find the last time Bristol Rovers beat Tranmere Rovers away from home, albeit the sides have only played each other six times – of which three were at Prenton Park – since that outing in March 2011.
Chris Lines got the early winner for the Gas that day; a 1-0 victory for the Pirates against a Tranmere side which included future Rovers captain Mark McChrystal.
Three of the last four league outings between the two sides have ended in draws, but the most recent clash was an impressive win for Tranmere; picking up a 4-1 victory in BS7 back in October.
Bristol Rovers last League Two victory at Tranmere Rovers came in January 2008; a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Andy Williams and Rickie Lambert.
