Cambridge United v Bristol Rovers
Sky Bet League Two, Cledara Abbey Stadium, Saturday 14 February 2026, 3pm KO

Bristol Rovers will be looking to earn their third victory in four outings when they travel to Cambridge United in Sky Bet League Two.

The Gas fell short against Chesterfield last Saturday. Braces from Rovers’ Shaq Forde and the Spireites’ Tom Naylor meant the score was level in a back-and-forth affair before substitute Joe Berry netted the winner for the visitors from a volley after he connected with a cross from Sam Curtis.

Rovers will be looking to return to their winning ways after three straight games at The Mem, beating Newport 3-0 and Walsall 2-0 before losing to the Spirirtes last time out.

Cambridge are having a successful season, having most recently earned a 3-0 victory over Crawley Town with a strike from Shane McLoughlin on the stroke of half-time and a brace from winger Sullay Kaikai.

Opposition…

Since their return to the EFL in the 2014/15 season, the U’s had four Sky Bet League One campaigns before facing relegation in the 2024/25 season, finishing 23rd in the third tier.

After several frustrating play-off results against Exeter City and Torquay, trying to gain promotion back into Sky Bet League Two, Cambridge beat Gateshead in the final 2-1 to make their way back into Sky Bet League Two in the 2014/15 season.

This season, they are looking to make an immediate return to Sky Bet League One and are in fourth position, just one point behind Notts County in the final automatic promotion spot.

Last weekend, they were looking for their seventh straight victory in the fourth tier when they travelled to a Harrogate United team that was winless in 20 matches, but fell to a 2-1 defeat, displaying the unpredictability of Sky Bet League Two. However, they responded with a resounding 3-0 over Crawley in midweek, meaning they have lost one of their previous 17 league games.

Head Coach Neil Harris has strengthened his squad in the January transfer window, signing defender Sean Raggett from Rotherham United on loan, as well as striker Elliott Nevitt from Gillingham.

Harris has received a nomination for Sky Bet League Two manager of the month for January, after winning a maximum 15 points from five games, lifting them to second place in League Two at one point. He joins winger Ben Knight, who has been nominated for player of the month.

Previous Meetings…

Ties in the Carabao Cup and Vertu Trophy mean this will be the fourth time Rovers will face Cambridge this season, but the first at the Cledara Abbey Stadium.

The U’s knocked the Gas out of the Carabao Cup back in mid-August, with Louis Appéré and Ryan Loft’s efforts sealing a spot in the next round. However, the Pirates responded with a 1-0 triumph in Sky Bet League Two thanks to Ellis Harrison's fine effort before beating Neil Harris' men on penalties in the Vertu Trophy following a 2-2 draw.

The last time Rovers visited the Cledara Abbey Stadium, it was in Sky Bet League One, where the Gas secured a 1-0 victory when Luke Thomas got onto the end of Scott Sinclair's cross to head in the winner.

Rovers have had matches against Cambridge since 1971 in the FA Cup, with Rovers leaving with a 3-0 victory. The Pirates have beaten Cambridge 27 times, drawing eight and losing nine.
