Bristol Rovers v Walsall
Sky Bet League Two, The Memorial Stadium, Tuesday 3 February 2026, 7:45pm KO

Bristol Rovers will be looking to claim back-to-back victories at The Memorial Stadium when they welcome Walsall in Sky Bet League Two.

The Pirates had a perfect ending to January, beating rivals Newport County 3-0 in the Severnside derby. With only one point separating the two teams at the start of the day, Yusuf Akhamrich took all of the headlines on his first start in the blue-and-white quarters.

The winger curled a perfect strike into the top corner from range to give the Gas the lead before a composed finish doubled his and Rovers' tally. As the fixture was heading towards a close, Fabrizio Cavegn sealed the victory with his 14th goal of the campaign to give his team a first home win since the end of September.

As for Walsall, they drew 2-2 away with Chesterfield on the weekend. The Saddlers found themselves two goals behind before efforts from Daniel Kanu and Albert Adomah helped them to a valuable point on the road.

Opposition...

Walsall are playing in Sky Bet League Two for the sixth straight season and will be looking to go one better than their playoff final defeat last term.

The Saddlers lost 1-0 to AFC Wimbledon at Wembley, but are in the mix for promotion again this term. Mat Sadler's men are in sixth position, three points behind Salford City in the final automatic promotion spot. They are four points ahead of Chesterfield in eighth and have played one game fewer, but will want to return to winning ways to strengthen their position.

Walsall have drawn their previous three games and have only won one of their last six matches in the fourth tier, but their comeback draw against promotion rivals Chesterfield shows they have plenty of battling spirit.

Tuesday night's visitors have been busy in the January transfer window after loanees Ryan Finnigan, Jid Okeke and Daniel Cox were recalled by their parent clubs. Two names very familiar to Rovers have joined Walsall's ranks, with Kacper Lopata and Alfie Chang, who spent the first half of the campaign on loan at the Pirates, going to the Saddlers.

Their other deals include bringing Fulham forward Aaron Loupalo-Bi in on loan and Alex Pattison joining from Bradford City permanently.

Previous Meetings...

Rovers have only lost one of their last six matches against Walsall across all competitions, but the defeat did come in the last meeting. Cavegn had given the Gas the lead with a fine finish into the bottom corner, but Aaron Pressley's brace helped the hosts to all three points at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium.

The Pirates beat Walsall in their previous meeting at The Mem, with Aaron Collins netting a 90th-minute header to decide the contest. The Saddlers' previous win at BS7 came in 2018, with Kieron Morris scoring the only goal in the final moments.

Rovers have won two of their last three Football League home games against Walsall (losing one), more than their previous ten beforehand (winning one, drawing four and losing five).
