Moneys Preview

Bristol Rovers WFC v Moneyfields WFC, FA Women’s National League, National League, Yate Town FC, Sunday 16th November, 2:00pm

Bristol Rovers WFC return to their alternative home at Yate Town FC this weekend for another top-of-the-table clash, this time against Moneyfields.

After conceding their first league goal and suffering their first defeat of the season against top-placed Swindon Town, the Gas Girls refused to let it disrupt their momentum. They responded brilliantly in their last league fixture with a 3-2 away victory over Marine Plymouth Academy.

TJ Gauvain - who is unfortunately set to miss this weekend’s match after receiving a red card against Swindon - made her mark before her suspension, opening the scoring just seven minutes into the game. MAP quickly levelled, but Abbey Hartley restored Rovers’ lead, before Ruby Scahill sealed the win just before half-time with her first goal for the Gas. The hosts added a consolation in stoppage time, but Rovers secured the win to take all three points.

Post-match, Scahill praised the team’s performance, highlighting how they “fought for each other and played well,” and expressed how rewarding it felt to get her first goal after working so hard since joining the club.

Opposition...

Moneyfields currently sit second in the league - the same position they secured last season - and remain unbeaten so far this campaign. With seven wins, one draw and no losses, they have made an excellent start, scoring an impressive 36 goals and are leading the division on goal difference.

They opened the season with a 3-1 win over Bridgwater, netting early before adding two quick goals in the second half. Their momentum has continued throughout the campaign, and they arrive in Yate full of confidence after a 7-0 victory over Bournemouth Sports, featuring a second-half hat-trick from Shannon Albuery.

Last Meeting …

Last season, Moneyfields held the upper hand in both encounters. They claimed a 4-1 win in the first meeting, followed by a 2-0 victory later in the campaign, with Meg Jarvis netting the Gas Girls' only goal across the two fixtures. With only one win separating the two sides - and Moneyfields' strong record in recent meetings - the Gas Girls will be determined to take all three points in the first meeting between the teams this season.
