Bristol Rovers v Chesterfield
Sky Bet League Two, The Memorial Stadium, Saturday 7 February 2026, 3:01pm KO

Bristol Rovers will be looking for three consecutive victories for the first time since September when they face up against Chesterfield at The Memorial Stadium.

Steve Evans' side have been formidable in their last two games at home, scoring five goals and keeping back-to-back clean sheets. Tottenham Hotspur loanee Yusuf Akamrich is proving to be a stellar signing, with the winger grabbing three goals in his last two games.

Akamrich’s low finish into the corner after a flick on from Shaq Forde opened the scoring for the Gas against the visiting Walsall last time out, before Kofi Balmer’s incredible volley from outside the box doubled the Pirates’ lead and sank the visitors as the hosts picked up all three points.

Chesterfield’s last game was also against Walsall last Saturday at the SMH Group Stadium. The Spireites took an early two-goal lead through Will Grigg and Dilan Markandy; however, unlike Rovers, they could not hold on as Walsall fought back, and the game finished 2-2.

Opposition...

Chesterfield returned to the EFL in the 2024/25 season after a title-winning campaign in the National League under boss Paul Cook, earning a club record 98 points in a single season.

Another fantastic season in their return to Sky Bet League Two saw them reach the playoffs, finishing seventh in the fourth tier, but Walsall proved too strong for the Spireites as they lost 4-1 on aggregate in the semi-finals.

Chesterfield are currently in eighth place, just outside the playoff spots and will be hoping to push on towards the end of the season and challenge for promotion once again. Cook's men have only won one of their previous seven games in the league, a 1-0 triumph away to Salford, but have also only lost twice in that time as well.

The Spireites were busy in the winter window, bringing in loan signings Will Dickson and Sammy Braybrooke from Manchester City and Leicester City, respectively. They also made a permanent addition, signing defender Malik Owolabi-Belewu from Forge FC in Canada.

Previous Meetings...

Rovers have had a difficult time against Chesterfield and have only won one of their previous six matches against their upcoming opponents. The reverse fixture ended in a 3-1 win for the Spireites, with late goals from Kyle McFadzean and Armando Dobra helping the hosts to victory after Isaac Hutchinson cancelled out Tom Naylor's earlier strike.

The Gas' last victory against the Spireites was in 2017 as Ollie Clarke found the net in the opening minute of the game with a sweet strike past Thorsten Struckmann in goal, and Rory Gaffney was also on the scoresheet in the first half as the Pirates picked up all three points in Sky Bet League One. You have to go back to September 1964 for Chesterfield's last victory away at Rovers.
