The Cod Army were full of confidence after beating Premier League champions Arsenal on Tuesday night, and Aaron Loupalo-Bi, who scored against the Gunners, had a golden opportunity to break the deadlock for the hosts within five minutes.
The forward raced around Brad Young and looked to have an easy finish into an open goal, but hit the bar from close range. However, Loupalo-Bi struck Fleetwood's first goal with a fine finish into the bottom corner before Rhys Bennett powered in a header in the second half.
Reiss Russell-Denny got a goal back for the Gas with a clever chip over Jay Lynch and in off the post in the closing stages, but Fleetwood scored their third and final goal moments later, with Josh Robertson curling past Young.
