Bristol Rovers secured passage to the knock-out stages of the 2025/26 Vertu Trophy with a battling 1-0 win away to Cheltenham Town.
Luke Thomas’ well-taken finish on the hour was the difference between the two Sky Bet League Two sides in the midweek Vertu Trophy Southern Section Group B encounter, but the final scoreline failed to truly reflect the dominance of Rovers’ performance.
In reality, the Gas were unfortunate not to lead by more, with Thomas himself seeing efforts either saved or blocked while the likes of Fabrizio Cavegn, Ruel Sotiriou, Ellis Harrison and Bryant Bilongo also went close.
The hard-fought win puts Rovers on five points from two matches played in Southern Section Group B, securing the Club’s progression to the last 32 of the competition with neither Cheltenham Town or Tottenham Hotspur U21s able to overtake them.
